                      Parham Parnian

Parham is a PhD student in the department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the University of Iowa. He received his B.S. in chemical engineering from Shiraz University, Iran, and graduated from Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran with an M.S. in chemical engineering-biotechnology in 2014. His M.S. research focused on waste-gas biological treatment where he characterized mass transfer of styrene in a two-phase partitioning bioreactor. In addition to his academic experience, he gained industrial experience by serving as a process engineer in the petrochemical industry for two years.

Pursuing his passion in hands-on projects in engineering and biotechnology, Parham joined Professor Nuxoll's laboratory in October 2018. His current research is focusing on developing a novel therapeutic technique that uses thermoelectric heating and cooling for in-situ elimination of medical implant infections.
